REC REPORT:Fall Fun at the Jeff Parks Department

As summer comes to a close, we’re celebrating the relief from the heat and welcoming the cooler weather with open arms! The crisp autumn air brings with it a season of new schedules, cozy campfires, and stunning scenery as we head outdoors to take advantage of Mother Nature’s festive display. Plus, with holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’re ready to dig our costumes out of the closet and add a dash of pumpkin spice to everything we bake!

As soon as the leaves start turning, you’ll find us at Richard L. Vissing Park, a 45-acre span with plenty of amenities. It plays host to our fall softball leagues, and it’s fun (and free!) to attend games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through the end of October. The park is also home to two different trails, which are great for walkers and hikers on the lookout for a new footpath. This park also has two batting tunnels, two playgrounds, and a full basketball court, which are all open to the public!

We feel fortunate that here in Jeffersonville, we have so many beautiful spaces to get out and enjoy the change of seasons. The beautiful foliage in the parks provides the perfect backdrop for family photos, so schedule your favorite photographer and capture new memories! We also love checking out the variety of playgrounds available in our parks. Each play-place is different, so consider making a “park bucket list” with your kids. Check off each park as you visit and see which playground is their new favorite! Visit for a full list of our parks and playgrounds, and follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with the fun fall events we’ve got coming up!
